My Birthday Celebration + My Gift To You

Today is my 30^th birthday celebration and I’m taking the day off, relaxing, hanging out at Starbucks (venti caramel mocha frapachino), and then off to Barnes N Noble’s to spend my gift certificates on -that’s right - new books; whoooohoooo! And then my wife is taking me out to dinner tonight to romance me . It doesn’t get much better than this!

Grateful

I’m feeling so grateful today as I look at all the many blessings in my life. I’m healthy, despite my recent battle with kidney disease. I have a wonderful wife who loves me, a family that supports me, a roof over my head, and food in my cabinets. I don’t know about you but for me that’s success; that’s what being rich is all about.

I can remember eleven years ago being depressed, kicked out of my house, roaming the streets addicted to drugs; totally lost and full of hate and anger. It was during that time that the issues of life backed me into the corner of life and I finally found what I was searching for all along: Love. It was the love that I found in God that changed my life forever, and I am forever grateful for that experience. Many of us often hear that we must search for God and seek after Him, that we must go to church and strive for some kind of religious experience. My experience was totally opposite. God was in search for me and He is in search for you as well. Our responsibility is to let go and get out of the way, and stop resisting the unconditional love of God, the ultimate Creator and lover of your soul.

I’m especially grateful that in just a few more months I am going to be a father! It’s still very surreal to me right now, still very mystical. What will my son be like, what will he look like, what is his path going to be, and what part will I play in shaping that path? It blows my mind when I really think deeply about it. I will have the privilege and responsibility of creating an atmosphere of love and safety where my son will thrive and grow up to be the man he is created to be. What an honor! I pray for wisdom, patience, and the ability to love unconditionally, just as I am loved unconditionally and am constantly transformed because of that kind of love.
